Elements of an acantine scroll frieze

From a funerary monument from the Claudian age to a decoration of the cathedral of Venafro

Two of the blocks of the frieze, decorated with an Acantine scroll, were reused outside the central apse of the cathedral, and two more non-contiguous pieces in the left apse. The pattern of the branch and the style of execution support a dating to the Claudian age. The frieze must have belonged to a medium-sized circular funerary monument, which can be visualized as a mound or a tholos on a cube base, both of which would be compatible with the proposed chronology.
