One of the most influential families in the city, whose social and political rise was due to ties with the Pandones
The Mancino family was one of the most important in the Venafra patriciate in the 15th and 16th centuries, but their presence has been documented in the city since at least the mid-14th century, with the doctor Angelo. Among the main exponents is certainly Antonio Mancino, who was elected bishop of Venafro by Pope Martin V and ruled the diocese for almost forty years (1426-1465). During his episcopal ministry he founded a family chapel in patronage in the cathedral church, where Covella d'Alferio di Castelpetroso, wife of his brother Cristoforo, was buried, and commissioned a fresco to honor her memory. The importance of the Mancino family within Venafra society grew during the fifteenth century and the official recognition of the dominant status they acquired was the marital bond with the Pandone family.
